What do you do with condo reservations that can’t be cancelled?
You call your best ski friends and host a women’s week of skiing in Steamboat Springs, Colorado!
That’s the birth of the Skijourn Sisters, a little add-on to my Solo Ski Sojourn. Seven girlfriends, six coming from my Professional Ski Instructors of America, four of us from Hyland Hills Snowsports Area in Bloomington, Minnesota and two from the East–Boston and New Jersey.
These women ROCK! We love to ski. And ski hard. And ski long. There’s a little wine, gin, Tuaca and laughter involved. Some hand-holding. Some shoulders to cry on.
But mostly there’s lots of love in the air, positive reinforcement, encouragement and challenges. I followed Cathy down through the trees, and through the bumps. The next day I led a few brave followers around the mountain. Sometimes we all skied together, but not for long. We’re cats out of control, and all headed our own ways.
Lucky to have each other, and lucky to get ten inches plus of new snow to play in.
They say nothing happens by accident, and these women were there for me when I needed them most.
SKIJOURN SISTERS
You captured the essence of our first Skijourn Sisters trip. Skiing (and apres-skiing!) in this extraordinary group was the winter break I needed. Thank you, Elaine, for bravely inviting us to be a part of your sojourn story!! ❤️

Wow! What an add-on!!!! For most of the rest of us that would be the whole, once-in-a-lifetime trip. Knowing you, you’ll probably incorporate that and more! So glad you and your friends could enjoy a perfect holiday. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰.
(You know if I could ski, I would be jealous! 😉)

My best ski days are behind me. I no longer catch air, ski moguls without taking breaks, or enter the trees without extreme caution. But every time I ski with my friends I have fun. Laughter on the chair lift, floating down a green run with fresh snow, gasping for air, free doughnut holes and hot cocoa, drinks in the hot tub, and long, stress-free dinners with conversations about our dreams and what we want to be when we grow up. My best ski days are behind me but my best skijourn sister days are just around the corner.
