Snowflakes falling softly from the sky. I’m snug in my home, fire burning brightly, wool slippers on, hot drink in my hand. No need to venture out onto icy roads, no place to go.
Christmas packages nestled under the tree, nothing more to wrap, nothing more to buy.
Text messages or emails from friends I haven’t heard from in a long time.
Finishing touches on my holiday letter. It’s my way of remembering the years that pass too quickly.
Looking at my adult children and knowing that whatever happens, they will be ok.
Looking at my grandchildren and knowing that whatever happens, happens. And that they will cope as best they can with the tools they’ve been given.
Sitting at the window before the sun has risen, a cup of coffee in hand, reading the newspaper or emails, waiting for the first light of dawn.
Looking at a painting or an object from my past and remembering the good times it represents.
Feeling hopeful about the future.
Feeling like there is a future.
Sitting quietly, not feeling the arthritis in my back.
Standing mountainside, on skis, not feeling the arthritis in my back!
Happy New Year!
Peace Out! What brings you peace?

Elaine – Merry Christmas and nice to see your blog again as it’s been awhile. I can really relate to the back issues but I am hopeful I can get back on the pickle ball court shortly. We had to take LeOra to emergency room several days ago she had a swollen knee that was really painful, it turns out it a “Bakers cyst” which I had never heard of, but it’s fluid that builds up behind the knee, so for now it’s RICE- Rest,Ice,Compression and elevation. When we were up in Minnesota I responded to your text about meeting at scoreboard but never heard back
Have a Happy New Year and be careful on the slopes😀
